Diversity in the Workplace

Ensuring compliance with the The Employment Equality Acts 1998 to 2011 is essential in every organisation. Equality and diversity in the workplace is a sensitive issue but one which must be taken seriously. Treating employees fairly regardless of their age, gender, race and other characteristics is central to business ethics and effective people management.

The Employment Equality Acts 1998 to 2011 cover employees in both the public and private sectors as well as applicants for employment and training.
It is important to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace environment so everyone feels comfortable in a working environment. Your organisation will reap the benefits by embracing an inclusive culture, where employees have a voice and feel valued.
The Employment Equality Acts 1998 to 2011 Acts outlaw discrimination in work-related areas such as pay, vocational training, access to employment, work experience and promotion.

Cases involving harassment and victimisation at work are also covered by the Acts. The publication of discriminatory advertisements and discrimination by employers, vocational training bodies and employment agencies, e.g. trades unions and employer associations, is outlawed. Collective agreements may be referred to the Workplace Relations Commission for mediation or investigation.
